- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup nonfat dry milk powder
- 4 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1-1/2 cups water
Cream sugar and shortening in medium bowl. Gradually stir in dry milk. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder and salt. Add to sugar mixture alternately with water, stirring just until blended.
Pour into a lightly greased 9-inch square baking dish. Bake in preheated 375° (Fahrenheit) oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
