Welcome & Terms of Service

Thank you for choosing Little Mmm Guy Web Works for your personal or small business website.

Just to be clear, I am the Little Mmm Guy. To explain the “Mmm” part, just think “Mmm, delicious”—this is my philosophy in a nutshell. I love good things and therefore will do my best to ensure that your site is a success.

Business Relationships

Generally Little Mmm Guy will act in one of two capacities:

Webmaster: Little Mmm Guy will build and manage your site on an ongoing basis. I will secure a domain and/or hosting for your site if needed. You may choose to pay for these yourself, or have me pay for them and bill you; either method is fine.
Teacher and Consultant: At some point in the process, if you want to learn to manage your own site, I can teach you. During and after this time, I may remain as a consultant to help you solve problems, or to proofread and/or validate your pages.

A Few Stipulations

Little Mmm Guy will not build a website which does any of the following:

Knowingly violates any existing copyright, or the intellectual property rights of another party;
Promotes hatred toward any minority, or any ethnic or religious group (being a Christian myself, this must include sites which actively denounce Christianity);
Promotes any illegal activity, including but not limited to the following:
- Making of bombs, or other means of taking a life;
- Making of illegal drugs or similar substances;
- Causing damage to computers or data by means of hacking, malware, viruses or similar tools.
Includes pornography in any form;
Includes a lot of strong language or inappropriate subject matter.

Sites will be built to conform to both the spirit and the letter of current W3C recommendations. Content is of paramount importance and therefore will be placed near the top of the source code. Navigation bars can be located anywhere on the page via the stylesheet, and they don’t have to appear on printouts.

Services Available, and Fees

Basic Website Design

This includes coding the Web pages, styling the look and feel of the site, and creating Web graphics. If you make your own graphics or have someone else do it, that’s OK too. My normal rate is $24 per hour (U.S. dollars). The charges won’t be terribly high because I only run the clock while work is actually being performed, and I work efficiently.

E-commerce, or Whatever Else You Need

Anything I don’t already know how to do, I’ll either learn to do myself or outsource the work. You will be charged my normal rate for any work I do, or whatever it costs to have someone else do it.

Any time I spend learning new things will not be charged to you; that is part of my ongoing education in this ever-changing field.

Teaching and Consultation

Since you are involved as well as myself, I charge half of my normal rate for these services. Currently this amounts to $12 per hour U.S.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Since content is foremost on any website I build, and it always begins near the top of the page source to insure relevance, the sites are naturally already optimized and should need no tweaking to make them more so. You are welcome to explore search engine submission services on your own, but please beware as many of these are not worth the money. Most visitors use only a few major search engines—Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask.com, for example—so submitting to hundreds of search engines is probably a waste. Also, search engines generally ignore the META keywords tag as it has been historically abused. A better choice may be to advertise on other sites; links to your site can make it appear more relevant, yielding better search results.

Payment of Fees

Little Mmm Guy currently accepts cash or checks, but no credit or debit cards. PayPal is the only other option at this time. Payment should be made within 14 days of billing, which normally occurs immediately after part or all of a project is completed. If the bill gets too high to pay all at once, payment terms may be negotiated.

Links to and From the Little Mmm Guy Website

With your permission, I would like to link to your site from the Little Mmm Guy website which is currently located at www.ookingdom.com/littlemmmguy. This has the potential to increase Web traffic for both parties. I may choose not to link to your site if I feel that the site’s design is not representative of my best work; this may occur if, for example, you insist on a color scheme which I feel is too garish. Such exclusion should not be taken personally as it is a matter of taste, and I will gladly oblige your preferences in designing your site.

Linking from your site to Little Mmm Guy is optional; with your permission, I may choose to place a small link at the bottom of your home page thusly:

Termination of Service

You are under no contract beside this document and are therefore not bound to stay with Little Mmm Guy. If you are dissatisfied with my service or wish to terminate it for any other reason, simply let me know, and your account will be closed immediately upon payment of any outstanding balance.
