Birthday Fun, 2001 / Page 3 of 7

As the boys went back to the computer, I hooked the camera up to its power pack and tried taking more pictures. The camera appeared to work fine, but again, it gave me the message, “No Photos on CF (Compact Flash) Card.” I switched to the 4 MB card which came with the camera. Again, the pictures wouldn’t save to the card.

After brief discussion with Wendi, I returned the camera, the 16 MB flash card and the camera bag to Wal-Mart for a full refund, at 9:55 p.m.

In the long run, I’ve had more trouble with the digital camera than it’s worth! We decided to wait a couple of years for the technology to mature before buying another one. In the meantime, we’ll get photos onto the Internet the “old fashioned” way: by scanning 4-by-6-inch prints from film negatives.

NOTE: We didn’t have to wait very long for better technology. Hewlett-Packard produced an upgraded version of the same camera, which I purchased in October of 2001. The first pictures taken on it appear in Autumn Splendor 2001.
