January 14, 2015.
I make a cappuccino using Hershey’s Special Dark syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg. At first, I added all three ingredients after brewing the coffee and frothing the milk. On January 14, 2015, I got the idea to add the cinnamon and nutmeg to the coffee before brewing. This made a world of difference!
Look Ma, no sludge: brewing the spices INTO
the espresso fixed the Kharlie M Special problem, smoothing
the flavor as well. #yummy #coffee

(Find the recipe here; it can be made using an espresso maker, a moka pot, a Keurig (with a reusable pod) or (in a pinch) a French press.)
Not long after that (January 27), our espresso maker quit working. Our neighbors, Kayla and Trey, bought us a new one on February 1.
I made Kharlie M milkshakes on my birthday (February 17), using the spiced espresso along with ice cream and Hershey’s Special Dark chocolate syrup. They were rich and delicious but VERY filling!
The Kharlie M Special milkshakes were tasty;
the flavor was bang-on. But oh how rich and WAY too filling!
It was a fun one-time experiment.

I made myself a Karamel Kharlie, finally nailing the recipe: 2 tablespoons of Hershey’s caramel syrup and 1 tablespoon of sugar.

For breakfast, I made Kharlie M pancakes with bacon, nailing the recipe on the first try.
*White or unbleached flour can be used in place of the whole wheat.

Two different Kharlie cappuccinos can be made from a single batch of spiced espresso. Here, I made Wendi a standard Kharlie M (left) and myself a Vanilla Kharlie (right). With 3/8 teaspoon of vanilla, this one was perfect; I could taste the vanilla, milk, coffee, and spices equally.
