June 30, 2001 — Joe and Wendi are splashing each other in the swimming pool at Motel 6 in Green Bay. This shot was taken at about 6:55 p.m.
At 7:32 p.m., as Wendi was trying to exit the pool, her foot slipped off of the wobbly ladder and got stuck in the bars behind it. A gentleman tried to help pull her out but failed. I (Charlie) got into the pool and boosted her from underneath, so she could get loose. When she got out of the pool, she was bleeding heavily from the great toe of her left foot; she was also bleeding from her left knee, her right shin and the great toe of her right foot.
Wendi underwent realignment surgery on the left knee as recently as February, 2001.
