I (Charlie, aka Kharlie M) completed and released two full albums in 2023: When Love Overtakes on March 14 and Especially for Wendi on December 20. The former is a collection of wedding and anniversary songs, and the latter is a set of 17 love songs written for Wendi over the space of 41 years. It’s also the first album to reuse songs from my 2007 album Umm…, though the audio has been reworked on those songs. I gave my last copy of the Umm… album to Jesse Ramirez, who hosts the open mic at Mocha Moment, on November 1.
I played 15 open mics in 2023 but only one live show, on June 18 for a Father’s Day event.
