Mother’s Day Tribute

May 2, 2001

A lot can be said (and a lot has been said) about mothers and how they shape our lives as we grow up. My favorite quote on the subject is from Abraham Lincoln, who said, “All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother.”

Now having grown up and married, I have two mothers in my life: the one who gave me birth, and the mother of my child. Both are very dear to me. My own mother is quite elderly and is in a nursing home at this time; my wife is at home, recovering from knee surgery. So both are quite delicate. But both are showing a great deal of strength as well, in light of their difficulties. That quality is what makes mothers special, for mothers are always plagued by difficulties: namely, us as children!

This being the first Mother’s Day that this website has been open, I felt it fitting to include a page that honors mothers, especially my mother and my wife. But I didn’t have a clue what to put on the page, so I will simply say that I love you both, and my life would certainly be far less than it is today if not for you. May God bless you, and the same goes to all mothers out there who are trying their very best to raise their children in the proper way.

Below are some links to sites featuring Mother’s Day quotes and stuff. These people say what I feel far more eloquently than I could. Browse them for a real blessing and reflection on motherhood.

Have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
