Why the Purple Ribbons?

A few weeks ago (October 7 to be exact) I changed the color scheme on this site, using a purple background on most pages (including The Oo Kingdom logo in white) and purple ribbons on the Home page. I had read an Internet site somewhere (I have since forgotten exactly where) indicating that purple ribbons were to symbolize awareness of domestic violence. Tonight I learned that purple ribbons are used for a number of causes, including a variety of diseases and medical conditions. Since my wife, Wendi, suffers from fibromyalgia, I would like to offer them to raise awareness of this condition. Actually, it is listed among the causes at this Wikipedia article.
