Wendi and I attended our first show together at JPAC (Janesville Performing Arts Center). It was the Janesville Area Creativity (JAC) Awards, 6–10 pm. ~ At 6:00 there was food and music from Pancake Riot. We sampled food from South Padre Food Truck (Jammin’ Jambalaya) and GR’s Sandwich Shoppe (falafel wraps). ~ The award show started at 7:00 upstairs, in the theater. Pancake Riot won the award for Best Live Band. Ken Wagman was nominated for Best Solo Performer; having a broken wrist, he played “Closing Time” and sang it, doing a fine job, but was beaten out by one of the dancers. Charlie Rashkin, the 13-year-old daughter of Yuri Rashkin (who is the president of United Arts Alliance, or UAA), sang wonderfully as an Emerging Star but didn’t win the award for that category.
