New Instruments or Tuning

Ordered a Kala Makala MK-B Baritone Ukulele (arrived August 19). A friend gave me an old electric guitar that same day.

Ordered new CGDA (fifths) string set for the concert uke (arrived November 12). This allows the instrument to be tuned the same as a viola, a tenor guitar, or a mandola. When strummed, the combination of high and low notes creates an interesting, full sound.

Ordered new Caramel soprano uke (arrived November 30). Had to rework the bridge, as the action was way too high, but the uke looks and sounds great.

Christmas

I discovered sheet music for “It’s Christmastide!” which is an original carol I wrote in 1987. Find it at the link above under the date, December 19, 2015.

My family got together on Christmas Day for the first time in a few years. We had good food and a good time. Gifts were few; we could afford nothing, so I shared my gift of music with them.

My family let me play for them for a bit that afternoon: three original songs and two Christmas carols (Jingle Bells and Silent Night). Some sang along with the carols. Great fun!
