Joe and Elizabeth arrived Tuesday around noon; John and Teresa Ulbrech were with them but only stayed a few minutes. I was busy preparing for that afternoon’s Praise Time service.

Praise Time at Rock Haven (2:00) went quite well despite the hurried preparations. Today’s theme was the grace of God. Joe Petitt gave the devotion, prayer and the closing prayer and benediction. He spoke of how since God gave His grace to us, we should give it back to Him by sharing it with other people. A verse in Habakkuk 3:18 closed the devotional. ~ Readings were given by Wendi Petitt, Jeanne Briggs, Joyce Hurd and Terry Smith; two of the readings also touched on this “extra” aspect of grace. ~ My two solos were “Grace Greater Than Our Sin” and “He Giveth More Grace.” ~ Joe’s contribution to today’s service also fulfilled his Ministry Week requirement for college.

Wendi made oven baked chicken for dinner, using panko bread crumbs, Melba toast run through the food processor, seasonings, and Grey Poupon Dijon mustard.

On Wednesday, I made bacon turkey cheeseburger patty melts and oven fries for dinner. We watched a DVD movie, “Ghost Rider” (Joe brought it with him) from 8:15 to 10:15 p.m. It was really good.

So far (to 10:25 p.m. Wednesday) we have received 5.92 inches of rain since 5:40 a.m. Monday! And guess what it’s still doing outside? :P

On Thursday, I made chicken rice casserole for dinner (4:00), with tossed salad. ~ I went to work for 5–10 p.m. ~ Joe and Elizabeth bought snacks and candy at Five Points Grocery. ~ I bought a grocery order after work, 10:34. ~ Ice cream sundaes for late-night dessert.

On Friday, I made bacon, hash browns, and cheesy scrambled eggs with onions, mushrooms, green peppers and garlic for breakfast (Wendi, Joe and I ate at about 11 a.m. Elizabeth would eat hers later).

Joe and I went out that afternoon on an errand run. First we went to the Janesville Vet Clinic (2:50) to get paperwork on Shadow (he and Elizabeth will take Shadow back to Minnesota with them). They gave him her complete medical history as well as her rabies certificate and her AVID (microchip) number and contact information. After that, we stopped at the post office, Woodman’s Food Market (where I work), and the pharmacy.

Joe and Elizabeth made cheeseburger casserole for dinner. I sautéed some asparagus with onions and garlic for a side dish. Served at 8:00. ~ After dinner, Joe ran his other DVD: “Ghost Rider 2: Spirit of Vengeance” (9:11–10:41, then played deleted scenes). Wendi fell asleep during the movie.

Joe and Elizabeth went upstairs to pack and go to bed. Just before midnight, Wendi and I had ice cream floats with Sunkist orange soda. Yum!

We took Joe and Elizabeth home on Saturday, with the cat Shadow; see the next page for more about her move and adjustment afterward.

Just leaving to take Joe and Elizabeth home to Minnesota… our cat Shadow is going with… she is moving!

When I went to put the cat carrier away, Sunny jumped up on the counter by the microwave. ~ Both Sunny and Stormy seemed really out of sorts tonight, and both were heard “mmming” to indicate that they were missing Shadow.

Just arrived home at 1:02 a.m. safe and sound
