Wendi and I got up at 6 a.m. so we could drive to Rochester, Minnesota to pick up Joe at college and bring him home for Christmas. It was snowing when we left at 7:19, but a little north of Madison we left the snow area. There was a traffic tie-up at Madison, but otherwise the trip went well. We arrived at Joe’s unit in Rochester at 11:39 a.m. under a partly cloudy sky.
We loaded up Joe’s stuff and then ate lunch at Taco Bell, then filled the gas tank. The return trip went well until we got just north of Wisconsin Dells, when we ran into snow. The storm intensified all the way to Janesville. The interstate was kept pretty clear, but the city streets were fairly slick. Our own street was a mess!
Joe’s friend, Alex, had the walks and driveway shoveled when we arrived home shortly after 5:30 p.m. The storm ended before 10 p.m. with a total of 3.1 inches, only 0.6 inch of which fell after Alex shoveled.
Wendi, Joe, Alex and I braved the storm that evening to eat dinner at Old Country Buffet and then go shopping at Wal-Mart.
