After all of the snow and ice we had before winter “officially” began, our winter solstice (yesterday) was marked by rain and temperatures as high as 43°. But overnight, the temperature dropped, the rain changed to snow (we received about an inch), and everything froze over. This morning, our car doors were hopelessly frozen shut! We tried a blow dryer and did manage to get one door unlocked but not open. Finally, armed with a cup of boiling water and a turkey baster, we were able to loosen and open the car doors. WD-40 was then applied to prevent refreezing.
North of us, in central Wisconsin, it’s still snowing; 10 to 16 inches are expected.
